Book 1: Zero/One By Kathryn Otoshi (Grades 2-3). ? Zero/One is an artfully crafted and thoughtfully written reading experience. The book actually contains two stories, each teaching an essential moral lesson. "Zero" is an uplifting fable that explores themes such as self-esteem and self-acceptance. It helps the reader to appreciate their beauty and worth and to celebrate what makes them unique. "One" teaches the reader to stand up for what they believe in and to assist those in need. It emphasizes the moral obligation that we all have to defend someone who is being bullied or abused. The book has beautiful, minimalistic art that captivates the reader and makes the lessons learned unforgettable. Action, adventure, and intrigue await you in the pages of one of Verne's most revered masterpieces. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea tells the tale of Captain Nemo, and his submarine the Nautilus. The novel includes fascinating adventures to the South Pole, the lost city of Atlantis, hunding in underwater forests, and even a fight with a giant squid! It may have been published in 1870, but the book is anything but dull. Stop by the Tutoring Lab to check out this awesome novel. Book 3: Night  By Elie Wiesel (Grades 9 and up). Described as "A slim volume of terrifying power" by the New York Times, Night  is the haunting, powerful true story of Elie Wiesel, who survived indescribable conditions in Nazi concentration camps during the second World War. It is a short read, at only 116 pages, but its contents reveal the darkest evils to ever face humanity in the 20th century. A harrowing tale of what must never be repeated, Night  is a must-read.
